Terms of Use
The rules for using findafundi.co.za and the FIND A FUNDI marketplace. Last updated 19 October 2026.
1. About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and FIND A FUNDI (Pty) Ltd (registration number 2026/783238/07) ("FIND A FUNDI", "we", "us"). By using this website or our services, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use them. Before launch, this website is mainly used to collect job requests, waitlist sign-ups and fundi applications. When the app launches, it will come with its own in-app terms, and they will be consistent with these.
2. What FIND A FUNDI is
FIND A FUNDI is an online marketplace. We help homeowners ("customers") find independent plumbers, electricians, handymen and IT/Wi-Fi technicians ("fundis") on the KwaZulu-Natal North Coast, and we provide tools for requests, quotes, approvals, payment and reviews. We are not a building, plumbing or electrical contractor, and we don't carry out the work ourselves.
3. Fundis are independent contractors
- Fundis are independent businesses or self-employed people. They are not our employees, agents or partners.
- The contract for the work is between the customer and the fundi. The fundi is responsible for the quality, safety and legality of their work. This includes holding any registration, licence or certificate the law requires (for example, electrical work and Certificates of Compliance must be done or signed off by a registered electrician).
- Fundis decide whether to accept a job, how to do it, and what to charge.
4. Prices, callouts and quotes
- The fundi sets the price. FIND A FUNDI does not set trade tariffs.
- Step 1, callout: before setting off, the fundi shows a callout that covers travel and diagnosing the problem. After-hours callouts may cost more, and you'll see that before you confirm.
- Step 2, quote: after diagnosing the problem, the fundi gives an itemised quote for labour and materials.
- Waived callout: if you accept the quote, you don't pay the callout. If you decline, you pay only the agreed callout.
- Extra work needs a revised quote that you approve first. One trade per job.
- Prices are in South African rand (ZAR). VAT is included where the fundi is VAT-registered.
5. Platform fee (fundis)
Joining is free, and there's no monthly fee. The platform fee is 10% of the fundi's final charged callout or labour, on completed jobs only, and it's calculated from the final fundi price. No fee is charged to join, to receive a job alert, to accept a job, or on an incomplete or cancelled job. There's no fee on materials. Customers don't pay a platform fee. Fundis may not arrange to be paid outside the platform for jobs they received through FIND A FUNDI in order to avoid the fee.
6. Cancellations and no-shows
- A customer can cancel free of charge before the fundi sets off. After that, the callout may be charged.
- If a fundi doesn't arrive, the customer pays nothing and we'll try to find another fundi. Repeated no-shows may get a fundi removed.
7. Your responsibilities
- Give accurate information, including a safe and accurate address and any access rules (for example, estate rules).
- Treat each other with respect. No abuse, discrimination, harassment or unsafe behaviour.
- Fundis must follow our Code of Conduct, only do work they're qualified and, where required, registered to do, and follow health and safety law.
- You must be 18 or older.
8. Verification
We check fundis' identity, references and the credentials they give us, and they complete a supervised trial job before they get the Verified badge. These checks lower the risk but can't remove it entirely, and they're not a guarantee of any particular job. Customers should still use their own judgement. If you have a concern about a fundi, tell us.
9. Ratings and reviews
Ratings work both ways: after a completed FIND A FUNDI job, the customer rates the fundi and the fundi rates the customer. Only completed jobs can be rated. Both sides have 7 days to rate, and ratings stay hidden until both are submitted or the 7 days end. A fundi may see a customer's average rating before accepting a job. Ratings and reviews must be honest and lawful, and must not be used to threaten, retaliate or bargain. We may hold ratings from a disputed job until it's resolved, and we review accounts with persistently low ratings, which can lead to a warning, suspension or removal. We may remove content that is false, abusive or unlawful, or that breaks these terms. We don't buy, import or invent reviews.
10. Disputes
If something goes wrong, contact the fundi first and then us. We keep job records (quotes, approvals, photos and the written diagnosis) and will help mediate. This doesn't limit any rights you have under the law, including the right to go to the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud or a court.
11. Our liability
To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for the work, advice, products or conduct of fundis, or for losses caused by them. Our total liability to you for any claim related to our services is limited to the platform fees we received for the job concerned. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, including under the Consumer Protection Act, 2008, or liability for our own gross negligence or fraud.
12. Using this website
Don't misuse the site, for example by sending spam through the forms, trying to break its security, or scraping it. The FIND A FUNDI name and logo belong to us. The information on this site is general, and it may change as we launch.
13. Consumer rights
If you're a consumer under the Consumer Protection Act, 2008, or the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, 2002, nothing in these terms takes away your rights under those laws. Our company details: FIND A FUNDI (Pty) Ltd, registration number 2026/783238/07, Ballito, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, findafundisa@gmail.com, 072 864 6248.
14. Law and changes
South African law governs these terms. We may update them, and the date at the top will change when we do. The version in force when a job is booked applies to that job.
